Rainbow of Generosity

Dear Members & Friends of OBUUC,

“I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.” This quote from Maya Angelou has been proven through scientific studies to be true. When you give, your generosity lights up the pleasure centers in your brain, and your soul radiates joy!As we deepen our relationships and commitment to each other, we strengthen our spiritual community. Keep this in mind as you bring your best self to making your annual pledge this year to OBUUC. You join others to keep our wonderful programs in music, religious education, & Sunday worship services thriving. You support Rev. Danielle every week when she says, Everyone is welcome here.” You help our church move toward paying our fair share to UUA for the amazing support they provide and progress towards being a fair-wage employer to our staff. Together we support the people, programs, space and office needs where living our shared mission comes alive.

Coretta Scott King said, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” You are part of this kind and compassionate network that we extend to each other and to the community beyond our walls. You are supporting the works of our active Social Justice Committee to aid disenfranchised folks in Racine, our community gardens, our Love Pantry and broader social justice issues. You are supporting our church’s 8th Principle by working to build a diverse community by our actions that dismantle racism and other oppressions. We agree with Harold Beckler who said, “Generosity is love in action.” We ask you to use your best self and this suggested Giving Guide in considering your pledge as a commitment to building our shared, beloved UU community. Increase your financial support as you’re able. Know that all gifts are appreciated. We absolutely appreciate the sharing of your time and talents too. If you have questions or concerns, you can contact anyone on the pledge committee or sign up for one of the “Blessings and Bites” house events. Know that if your circumstances change during the year, you can modify your pledge by contacting our administrator. We deeply appreciate you fulfilling this commitment.

We hope that when you write that number on your pledge card, the pleasure centers in your brain will do a very happy dance!

If you have questions, please reach out to our Annual Budget Drive Team, Diane Lange, Linda Wetherbe, Shirley Reynolds, Rev. Danielle or to our board co-presidents, Carl Hubbard and Cory Mason.
