The annual gift commitment campaign to our shared UU community of faith began on February 16. The pledge form can be download by clicking on this link.

Our ask is simple. Bring your best self in considering your 2025-2026 gift commitment pledge. Your personal financial situation is known best by you. Let us emphasize that all gifts are greatly appreciated. This includes your donation of financial assets, time and your talents that make our community strong. The Giving Guide is a tool. Last year 57% of our donors were able to increase their donations and 15 new donors joined us. All of us know that costs go up and a thriving faith community’s financial base will attract new ministerial leadership and let us live into our mission more deeply.

Generosity might be seen as a form of spiritual muscle. It becomes stronger as it is exercised. Generosity of time, talent and treasure is a gift to oneself. The more we give, the greater our return. Our connections to that web of life are strengthened and our ability to build hope and justice increases.

Our OBUUC church community is in a time of change. Progress may feel slow. Let us be reminded of a poem The Struggle Continues written by UU Rev. Israel Buffardi. He believes that reflecting connecting, and celebrating community is a radical act in these times.

The road that lies ahead of us is a long one,
And the page of progress will sometimes feel glacially slow.
Never forget that glaciers over time
Can carve out grand canyons and great lakes.
Moving tectonic plates can rise up mountains over millennia,
Or they can explode awe-inspiring volcanoes in milliseconds.
Our commitment to love and justice can do the same.
