“The First Word in Funeral” Our (Adult) Choir will sing for us at our annual Day of the Dead service. Feel free to bring a photograph (or other memento) of a loved one, to be brought up to the altar for our remembrance ritual. We will also have a Beyond-These-Four-Walls presentation on Healing Warrior Hearts Foundation (Starfish), which is our offertory-outreach recipient for November.

“Healing the Heart Way: Readjustment from Deployment – for Veterans and Families”
On this Sunday after Veterans Day (November 11th), our guest speaker will be Jon Christensen, a Vietnam Veteran who has worked for over 45 years as a counselor to help Veterans return home. He is currently employed as a Readjustment Therapist with the Milwaukee Vet Center, but his primary office for the past 8 years has been in Racine. Jon is co-instructor with Patricia Clason, the Founder of Healing Warrior Hearts, which is a weekend intensive program of healing from the trauma of war and from military sexual trauma. (Healing Warrior Hearts happens to be OBUUC’s offertory-outreach recipient for the month of November.)
We will also be receiving donations for the Veterans Food Bank, so feel free to bring gifts of non-perishable food to this service. We also invite those members and friends of OBUUC who have served in the armed forces to wear your uniform to church (if it still fits!).
