We will kick off our 175th Year Anniversary at the Annual Picnic on June 11th, 2017 at Cliffside Park.
One of the projects for the year is to create a OBUUC quilt that, when finished, will be displayed in church. This quilt will be made of squares designed by families, couples, and individuals from our church. Squares and craft supplies will be available at the picnic and through the year. Before the quilt is constructed, the squares will be hung throughout the church like Tibetan prayer flags. If we have enough squares, we may create multiple quilts to be hung in the church, annex, and George Bray Hall.
Olympia Brown UU Church merchandise is coming! We’ll have a merchandise table set up at the picnic where you’ll be able to purchase, OBUUC magnets, oval car stickers, tote bags, backpacks, water bottles and t-shirts. If you miss the table at the picnic you’ll be able to purchase merchandise in George Bray Hall beginning in September.
Get your trivia on at the picnic! Play along to the game – What said it? Olympia Brown? Tony Larsen?
There will also be a sing-a-long and games for the children!
Looking ahead: The 175th Anniversary Committee has a lot of activites planned for our year of celebration. More information will be given at the picnic, but put this important date on your calendar – October 7, 2017 is the 175th Anniversary Dinner which will be catered and held at First Presbyterian Church across from OBUUC. After dinner venture to our church for desert, wine, soft drinks and the Talent – No Talent Show! Contact Sharon Erwin if you’d like to perform in the show. No talent needed! Activities for children will be happening in George Bray Hall during the dinner and show (although all children are welcome at First Pres. and the Talent – No Talent Show). There will be pizza, movies, child care and games.
